About SD4GE II
GIZ Skills Development for a Green Economy (SD4GE) II is a German Technical Cooperation Programme implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The programme is co-financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
The programme, which is scheduled for a period of 4 years (April 2018 – March 2022) aims to improve the cooperation between actors from vocational training institutions and the private sector in dual training approaches in South Africa.
It supports a structural change towards more employment-oriented training approaches in South Africa. GIZ SD4GE II works in close collaboration with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to implement this, involving actors from both the private sector and the public TVET sector.
Support areas include:
Cooperation between private and public sector actors to promote & implement VET for employment - artisan training, demand-oriented, flexible, short-term up- & re-skilling programmes and career path development.
Strengthening of the capacity of VET personnel in TVET colleges and in industry to plan and implement dual training
Building blocks and core processes supporting the development of artisans of the 21st century: Assessments, curriculum review, quality assurance, employer relationships, (digital) learning support material
Unlocking opportunities for training and employment in enterprises across the township economy (IRM) and responses to Covid-19
